On the occasion, representatives of Can Tho city delivered briefings on the local geography, economic potential and priority fields for investment.

After establishing diplomatic ties in 1973, Vietnam and the Netherlands have always striven to promote their relations, especially in trade.

By the end of 2010, Vietnam ’s export turnover to the Netherlands reached 1.68 billion USD. Vietnam ’s imports from that country are mainly in machinery, pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, cattle feed, metal, milk and dairy products.

At present, the Netherlands has more than 130 investment projects in Vietnam with a total capital of 5.7 billion USD.

Most of projects are in southern provinces in the fields of foodstuffs, oil and gas exploration and exploitation, petrochemicals, cosmetics, hotel business and construction.-VNA
