Nhan Dan- A street art programme entitled ‘Dragon Festival’ will be held at My Dinh National Stadium on October 2 as a highlight of the capital’s 10-day long millennium celebration which starts tomorrow.
The Festival is jointly organised by the Ministry of the Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Spanish Embassy, the Hanoi People’s Committee and the Vietnam Circus Federation.
This festival, which includes a variety of activities such as fireworks and artistic performances, will help people learn more about the history of the foundation of Hanoi.
The ‘Dragon Festival’ illustrates the establishment of Thang Long- Hanoi through traditional Vietnamese legends of dragons combined with a Mediterranean spark from Spain.
It is performed by 19 members of Spain’s famous opera group, the Els Comediants, and 18 artists from the Vietnam Circus Federation.
The festival, which is free of charge, lasts from 7.30pm until 8.45.
The Els Comediants is known for its impressive performances in Spain and all over the world. It performed at the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992.
For over 30 years, it has created many street performances inspired by fire, an element that exists in all traditional festivals in the Mediterranean.
