HCMC – Dong Tam Long An Tiles have sacked head coach Simon McMenemy and replaced him with Croatian Buketa Ranko.

However, McMenemy stays at the club after becoming the new technology director.

English coach McMenemy signed a two-year contract on March 8 and his mission was to improve the team’s fortunes in the V-League.

However, under the former Philippines coach’s reign Dong Tam stuttered along with six losses, four draws and just three wins.

They still sit bottom of the V-League with 18 points from 19 games.

McMenemy, 34, took the Philippines to the semi-finals of the 2010 AFF Suzuki Cup for the first time.

Unofficially, McMenemy became the youngest football coach in international football at the age of 33. Previously, he was assistant coach of English non-league side Worthing.

Meanwhile, Ranko, 57, former coach of Brunei club side DPMM, signed a contract on Tuesday to become the new coach with his first goal to escape from the V-League relegation zone.
