The first national dog show of the Vietnam Kennel Association (VKA) on Dec. 5-6 at Nguyen Du Sports Club in HCMC’s District 1 attracted Bulldogs, Chihuahuas, Rottweilers, German shepherds (usually known as bergers in Vietnam), Alaskan Malamutes, Cocker Spaniels and their breeders and visitors. Bulldogs, Rottweilers and Chihuahuas had the largest number while the Alaskan Malamute, which is bred as a sled dog, was represented by only one specimen. Winning animals were awarded cups and certificates for the national dog, the best of breed, the best of group and extra prizes for best newborn (under six months), best puppy (six to nine months) and best young adult (nine to 18 months). Here are some photos taken by The Saigon Times Daily’s reporter Kieu Giang
