A ceremony to unveil the roofed structure for outdoor exhibits at the Dien Bien Phu Historical Relics Site was held on April 25 th in the presence of State President Truong Tan Sang.
This nearly VND 5 billion structure, financed and constructed by the Hanoi Development and Investment Corporation (HANDICO) since February 25 th , is to protect and preserve exhibits in the resistance war against French colonists.
The structure includes 12 roofs, located in 9 locations in two wards of Muong Thanh and Thanh Truong in Dien Bien Phu City, to preserve 7 cannons, 4 tanks and remnants of French aircraft.
Addressing the ceremony, State President Truong Tan Sang stressed that the preservation of these exhibits, seen as a symbol of the nine-year resistance war against French invaders and great victory of Dien Bien Phu, marking the first victory of a small colonial country over the largest and the most powerful invader of the world, was significant. It was seen as deep gratitude to ten thousands of troops and civilians who died for the victory by the Vietnamese and friends from all over the word.
The State President also appraised efforts of troops and workers in completing this meaningful structure. Translated by Mai Huong
