The two sides agreed to open markets for each other in the areas of energy, mineral exploitation, processing industry and services at the latest talks held on April 11 in Canberra during the Vietnamese Deputy PM’s visit.

The two sides highly spoke of the development of the strategic partnership in all fields including diplomacy, national defense, economics, trade, and education-training and showed their optimism about prospects for future development.

They underlined their determination to realize the Việt Nam-Australia Action Program for 2010-2013 on schedule and host practical activities to mark the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties.

Deputy PM Wayne Swan said that Australia would consider Việt Nam’s proposal of opening up a direct air route linking Hà Nội and Sydney to spur tourism linkages between the two countries.

Australia would continue to work with Việt Nam in the negotiation process for the Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP)./.
