HANOI – Denmark will continue providing official development assistance (ODA) for Vietnam until 2015, said Mogens Lykketoft, speaker of the Danish parliament, at his meeting with Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

The strong and sustainable development of Vietnam is deemed attractive to international investors, including those from Denmark, said Lykketoft at his talks with National Assembly (NA) Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung in Hanoi on Monday.

The Vietnam News Agency quoted NA Chairman Hung as saying that Vietnam hoped the two nations would promote cooperation in developing energy and wind power industries and in climate change adaptation. These are the strengths of Denmark, while Vietnam is among the three countries most vulnerable to climate change.

Hung also sought assistance in education, healthcare and poverty reduction.

Lykketoft said Vietnam and Denmark should cooperate in the potential fields such as trade, investment, education and scientific research. He said his Vietnam visit this time showed Denmark’s desire to tighten multifaceted ties with Vietnam.Regarding Vietnam-EU relations, Hung said Vietnam has close, effective and comprehensive cooperation with the EU and that the two sides are making efforts to soon sign a Comprehensive Partnership and Cooperation Agreement.
