The two generals held talks after the reception ceremony to receive the delegation took place on April 16 th at the Headquarters of Chinese People’s Liberation Army in Beijing.
Senior Lieutenant-General Chen Bingde expressed his pleasure welcoming Senior Lieutenant-General Do Ba Ty and the Vietnamese delegation at the official friendship visit to China.
Senior Lieutenant-General Chen Bingde said that the visit not only helped boost the traditional friendship between the two Parties, States, armies and people but also created momentum for a new development step and stronger mutual trust between the two countries and armies.
At the talks, the two sides analysed and evaluated the regional and international situations as well as informing each other’s political, economic and social situations.
Senior Lieutenant-General Do Ba Ty stressed Vietnamese people’s achievements gained since the 11 th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam such as social stability, defence and security maintenance and the increase of people’s trust in the Party.
Senior Lieutenant-General Chen Bingde informed his counterpart about China’s economic, social, scientific and technological achievements, which are developing at high growth rate under the leadership of Chinese Communist Party.
Senior Lieutenant-General Do Ba Ty confirmed that the relationship between Vietnam and China is an invaluable treasure, established by President Ho Chi Minh and President Mao Zedong. The relationship has been developing vigorously and upgraded to the comprehensive strategic partnership.
The Vietnamese general also said that Vietnam always acknowledges the effective and great assistance of China’s Party, State, people and PLA in its wars to liberate the country and in the cause of building and developing the country.
Developing the traditional friendship with China is Vietnam’s consistent foreign policy, said the Vietnamese general.
The two sides are pleased to see that the defence relation between the two countries has recently been promoted and played as a pillar in the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two Parties and States.
The two sides have effectively implemented the protocol signed between the two defence ministries in 2003 and other agreements, some of which become bright points in the defence relation.
The two armies increase the exchange of visits annually, especially the that of high-ranking delegations.
In the training cooperation field, the cadets of the two countries studied well with good results, working as a friendship bridge connecting the two countries.
The cooperation between the two navies, border guard forces and military zones stationing at the border lines have been promoted with positive results. Joint patrols in the sea and on land contributed to maintaining stability and security at border areas, timely handling violations cases and fighting against crimes.
Cooperation in political works and mechanism of ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting Plus has been continuously promoted.
About the East Sea issues, the two sides agreed that the two armies must play an exemplary role in seriously implementing the agreements between leaders of the two countries.
The two sides noted not to let hostile forces incite to separate the relations and strategic interests of the two countries.
On behalf of the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation, Senior Lieutenant-General Do Ba Ty sincerely thanked the leaders of Chinese Party, State and Army, including Senior Lieutenant-General Chen Bingde, and officers and soldiers of the PLA for their warm receptions.
Senior Lieutenant-General Do Ba Ty also invited Senior Lieutenant-General Chen Bingde and leaders of the PLA to visit Vietnam.
