Built at a total investment of VND4,547 billion (US$226 million), the high priority electricity project is part of the national power development plan approved by the Prime Minister, according to Nguyen Van Dat, director-general of IDICo.
Under the contract, IDICo implemented the tender within 30 months, ensuring progress of the project. IDICo Electric signed a contract worth US$15.5 million for supplying equipment, material and technical services for the Dak Mi 4 Hydropower Project.
The project has been under construction in the central province of Quang Nam and was divided into three smaller plants, Dak Mi 4A, Dak Mi 4B and Dak Mi 4C.
Once complete and put in full operation in May 2012, the plant with capacity of 190 MW will provide the national grid with more than 780 million kWh of electricity per year, increasing supply of electricity in the central region and improving infrastructure in the two districts.
Since starting operations in Vietnam in 2003, the IDCo Corporation has participated in hydropower plants in Dak Mi, A Luoi, An Khe-Ka Nak, Ban Ve and Song Ba Ha in Central Vietnam.
