The Da Nang City People’s Committee has recently approved the Tourism Development Program in the period 2011-2015 with a budget of VND 3.2 trillion, including VND 167 billion from the national budget and the remainder from other sources.
The City’s authorities also affirmed that tourism will become a key “non-smoke” industry for its socio-economic development.
Accordingly, the City’s upcoming tourism program will focus on promoting various forms tourism, such as marine, holiday, ecology, culture, scenery, trade village, shopping, MICE (Meeting-Incentive- Conference- Event), to name a few.
The budget will be used for major projects in the Son Tra Peninsula, Ngu Hanh Son theme park, Lang Van Village and Hai Van mountain pass, amusement parks, souvenir shops, shopping areas and Bach Dang Tourist Street.
Da Nang City expects to draw about 4 million visitors, including 1 million foreign, with an estimated VND 3.4 trillion turnover by 2015, enhancing its contribution to the City’s GDP from 5.12 to 7.0 per cent.
