Mai Cong Hieu crowned the men’s singles event at the National Cycling Championships on Sunday, marking his 13th victory in a row at the annual tournament.

The 33-year-old cyclist from the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap finished the 40km hilly sprint in the northern mountainous Hoa Binh Province in 53 minutes 58:60 seconds.
His performance was 27 seconds faster than that of runner-upper Bui Minh Thuy from Vinh Long. Mai Nguyen Hung from Ho Chi Minh City completed the race in 56 minutes 31:23 seconds.
“My achievement, the 13th straight title in my competing career, makes me very happy”, said Hieu.
In the women’s event, Cao Thi Thuy Trang from the southern province of Binh Duong clinched a gold medal at the 29km hilly race in 42 minutes 16:24 seconds.
Pham Thi Thuy Lien from Dong Thap and Dang Huong Thao from HCMC won silver and bronze medals respectively.
