Cyclist Mai Nguyen Hung wins the final yellow jersey

The fifth leg of “To Truong Son” cycling tournament

Cyclist Tran Van Quyen arrives first in the final leg.

PANO - 60 cyclists began their 5th leg, the last one, of the “To Truong Son” cycling tournament on July 19 th .

In this leg, they raced on the 82km-long itinerary from Quang Binh Province to the Truong Son Martyrs' Cemetery, Quang Tri Province, where witnessed magnanimous and unforgettable moments of our troops and people in the fight against foreign invaders.

According to Mr. Doan Kim Phach, General-Secretary of the Vietnam Motor-Bicycle Sports Federation, though the 5th leg was shorter than previous one, the competition among cyclists remained intense because participating teams tried their best to win the leg.

With great effort, cyclist Tran Van Quyen from Military Zone 7 team came first with 2 hours, zero minute and 23 seconds, followed by cyclist Yin Chih Wang from CCN team and cyclist Tang Tri Hung from ADC-Vinh Long Television team.

However, cyclist Mai Nguyen Hung from Eximbank HCM City team ranked the first of the tournament with the final yellow jersey. He also wore the final green jersey. The white jersey belonged to Ha Thanh Tam, the best young cyclist.

Meanwhile, cyclists Ha Thanh Tam from Flora Protection-An Giang team and cyclist Nguyen Van Tai from Pharmacy-Domesco Dong Thap came the second and third.

With the total time of 47 hours, 42 minutes and 56 seconds, the Flora Protection-An Giang team was the champion of the tournament, followed by Eximbank HCM City (13 second longer) and Pharmacy-Domesco Dong Thap (1 minute 58 seconds longer).

In Quang Tri Province, teams paid homage to martyrs and heroes rest in peace in Truong Son Martyrs’ Cemetery.

On July 20, cyclist will compete in a local tournament in which they will race 21 rounds around Quang Tri ancient citadel, totally 36km.
