HCMC - VietJetAir has selected CyberSource as a provider of payment services and fraud-management solutions to its online ticketing services and its efforts to expand wings to regional destinations later this year.
VietJetAir on Thursday announced an agreement with CyberSource, which is one of the world’s major providers of secure eCommerce payment management services.
Desmond Lin, business development director of the privately-held budget airline VietJetAir, said CyberSource supported the processes, expertise and experience to guarantee service quality for customers. The agreement is aligned with the carrier’s endeavor to provide customers with a secure online payment process.
Michael Bradley, Asia-Pacific managing director of CyberSource, said CyberSource Payment Services and Decision Manager together with the support of CyberSource Fraud Analysts would enable VietJetAir’s customers to buy tickets online from any location.
VietJetAir now operates Airbus A320 aircraft for its flights linking Vietnam’s major economic and tourist hubs of HCMC, Danang, Hanoi and Nha Trang. In April this year, the airline increased its daily flight frequency on the HCMC-Hanoi route to eight flights from three.
The carrier is proceeding with plans to open new routes to other destinations in Vietnam as well as service routes between Vietnam and other parts of Southeast Asia.
Early this year, Singapore International Airlines Engineering Co. struck a deal with VietJetAir to assist the latter’s fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft with spares pooling and support, component repair and overhaul. The airline plans to expand its fleet to 15 in the next three years.
CyberSource, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Visa Inc., is a payment management company and provides more than 370,000 businesses worldwide with solutions to process online payments, streamline fraud management, and simplify payment security.
* Singapore Airlines said it would discount fares by between 20% and 58% for the flights from HCMC, Hanoi and Danang to 20 destinations around the world to celebrate its 20th anniversary in Vietnam.
The “amazing fares” will be available for booking at Singaporeair.com or purchase at travel agents within 20 hours starting from 4 a.m. of June 28 for the flights to Europe, Australia, Asia and other parts of the globe from July 5 this year to March 31 next year.
Erwin Widjaja, general manager of Singapore Airlines in Vietnam, said the airline offered such fares as gratitude for its customers’ support throughout the years to make Singapore Airlines one of the biggest foreign airlines operating in Vietnam.
In 1992, Singapore Airlines became one of the first international carriers to serve HCMC four weekly flights and Hanoi two weekly times. On Friday, Singapore Airlines group conducts two daily services to Singapore from HCMC, 10 weekly times from Hanoi (daily service by Singapore Airlines and three weekly flights by SilkAir) and four weekly flights from Danang on SilkAir.
