US packaging manufacturer Crown Holdings, Inc. Tuesday announced its plan to install a second beverage can production line in its existing facility in southern Dong Nai Province.
The new line, scheduled to come into operation in the fourth quarter of 2010, will be operated by the group’s Asia – Pacific subsidiary, the Crown Asia Pacific Holdings Ltd, Vietnam News Agency reported.
The facility will initially reach an annual production capacity of 600 million 33 centiliter aluminum beverage cans, which will expand the Dong Nai plant's capacity to more than 1.2 billion cans a year.
It is part of the company’s plan to develop five beverage can lines in three facilities in Vietnam, with total production capacity in excess of three billion aluminum two-piece cans.
"This expansion reflects the Vietnamese market's growing demand for beverage cans and Crown's continuing commitment to grow with our bottling customers there," Jozef Salaerts, President of Crown's Asia-Pacific Division, said.
