Prime Minister Nguyễn Tấn Dũng was speaking on March 7 in Hà Nội at a national conference to review the five-year implementation of the Resolution of the 3rd Plenum of the 10th Party Central Committee on enhancing the Party’s leadership in the combat against corruption and the Việt Nam Anti-Coruption Law.
Mr. Dũng, who is also Chairman of the National Committee for Prevention and Combat of Corruption (CPCC) reiterated the strong determination of the Party, State and whole society of fighting the scourge.
The Party chief requested the conference to focus on analyzing the shorcomings and weaknesses in realizing the Resolution and the Law and working out effective measures to put an end to embezzlement.
According to Deputy Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc, over the last five years, the anti-corruption work has shown positive signs. Corruption cases have only been found in some areas including ODA projects, public asset management, implementation of national targeted programs and customs.
In the five-year period, over 62,000 corruption investigations have been conducted, from which more than 1,600 collectives and 11,000 individuals have been proposed to be given disciplinary measures.
Despite tough measures taken, corruption, however, still occurs seriously and complicatedly while anti-corruption agencies failed to operate efficiently.
In the coming time, anti-corruption work should focus on heightening the role and responsibility of Party leaders in every organization; perfecting socio-economic policies and improving anti-corruption measures and human resources.
According to Deputy PM Phúc, all Party members, public officials and people should be highly aware of the scourge; corruption cases should be timely exposed and tackled; and international cooperation in the field should be promoted./.
