Congratulations flow to newly elected leaders

President Truong Tan Sang, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung continue to receive congratulatory messages from foreign counterparts on their election at the ongoing first session of the 13th National Assembly.

Prime Minister of Russia Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin yesterday sent a congratulatory message to Prime Minister Dung affirming that Russia would continue to closely co-operate with Viet Nam and would create favourable conditions for the implementation of big projects in the fields of energy, machine manufacturing, high technologies, telecommunication and military technology.

Brunei's King, Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Singaporean President Nathan and President of Finland Tarja Halonen sent best wishes to President Sang while Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva sent a message to Prime Minister Dung.

Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni, Prime Minister Hun Sen, Senate President Chea Sim and Parliament President Heng Samrin sent congratulatory messages to State President Sang, Prime Minister Dung, and National Assembly Chairman Hung.

The Cambodian leaders said that under the leadership of their leaders, Viet Nam would gain greater achievements in national construction and development, continue to play an important role in the region and the world.

They also expressed hope that friendship, solidarity, co-operation and mutual understanding between the two countries would be further developed.

The Vietnamese State leader also received a congratulatory message from Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Yong Nam.

The DPRK leader said the traditional friendship and co-operation between the two countries, which was built to fight against imperialism, would continue to be boosted.

Indian President Pratibha Devisingh Patil sent a message of congratulations to President Sang. She said that India and Viet Nam traditionally had a close relationship and co-operation for mutual benefits built on the firm foundation created by President Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and President Ho Chi Minh.

President of the Republic of Korea (RoK) Lee Myung-bak also sent a message to Sang expressing his pleasure at the expansion of co-operation between the RoK and Viet Nam in every field after the two countries upgraded their relations to strategic co-operative partnership in 2009. — VNS
