At the conference, Inspector General of the Government Inspectorate, Huynh Phong Tranh, reviewed and evaluated the settlement of complaints and denunciations in the four years from 2008 to 2011.
During the 2008-2011 period, State administrative agencies received over 1,571,500 citizens’ arrivals for complaints and denunciations and handled 672,990 petitions from citizens. Relevant agencies settled 88% of complaints cases and 84% of denunciations cases.
Although the number of complaints and denunciations cases has declined in comparison to the 2006-2007 period, the situation remains complex, particularly cases relating to land disputes and land compensation.
The Government Inspectorate proposed six solutions including enhancing land management to reduce complaints and denunciations in this area; improving the effectiveness of reception for citizens; improving the operation of State agencies responsible for complaints and denunciations; strengthening coordination between Central and local authorities in settling complaints and denunciations; and enhancing information dissemination and education on complaints and denunciations law among communities.
