The event was chaired by Politburo member and National Assembly (NA) Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung, who is also Chairman of the CDAC; Politburo member, Permanent member of the Party Central Committee (PCC) Secretariat and member of the CDAC, Le Hong Anh; and member of the PCC, NA Vice Chairman and CDAC Vice Chairman, Uong Chu Luu.
Addressing the conference, NA Chairman Hung stressed that amendments and supplements to the 1992 Constitution were necessary to match the country’s current situation as well as development trends and to institutionalise the Party’s major guidelines and policies stated in the Platform for national construction in the transition to socialism (supplemented and developed in 2011) at the 11th Party Congress.
The NA Chairman also urged former Party and State leaders to contribute their ideas on the constitutional amendments.
At the conference, former Party and State leaders gave opinions about the review of the 1992 Constitution and the report on the basic content of proposed amendments and supplements.
