Conexus to bring region much closer

Conexus Mobile Alliance last week integrated its international service standards in Vietnam a year after having its first Vietnamese member VinaPhone.

Eleven operator participants from Japan, South Korea, Thailand, the Philippines, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Taiwan and Hong Kong gathered to leverage cooperation on competitive projects for value added service, international roaming and project connecting operators to leading operators in the world.

Ho Duc Thang, deputy director of VinaPhone, said joining the Conexus Mobile Alliance played an important role in Vietnam’s telecom market.

“We are benefiting from the alliance’s policies after a year’s membership. VinaPhone is providing free customer care call service to those who use roaming services in Japan with NTT Docomo and to Taiwan with Far Eastone,” said Thang.

Conexus Mobile Alliance’s popular daily flat-rate data roaming tariff plan has been now available in Vietnam, the first mobile alliance in the world to have offered it in the country since June. This announcement came as Conexus Mobile Alliance adopted a number of initiatives to boost mobile data roaming and data usage across the region.

From June, mobile travellers of Taiwan’s FET, Hutchison Telecom Hong Kong and Singapore’s StarHub enabled to enjoy the predictability and flexibility of managing their mobile bills when in Vietnam, through the Alliance’s daily flat-rate roaming programme. Mobile customers of Indonesia’s Indosat, Japan’s NTT Docomo and Thailand’s TrueMove will soon enjoy this benefit, when they travel to Vietnam, over the next few months.

Conexus Mobile Alliance chairman Dr. Kaizad Heerjee said Vietnam was one of Asia’s fastest growing economies and VinaPhone was one of the leading mobile operators in Vietnam.

As the earliest adopter of 3G services in Vietnam, VinaPhone would be able to help promote and expand the benefits of the alliance to their customers. At the same time, the alliance aims to offer VinaPhone’s customers true convenience and simplicity as they use the services that Conexus brings to the market.

Vietnam reported post and telecom revenue of VND119.7 trillion ($5.98 billion) by the end of November, signing in around 60 million activated mobile subscribers.

Established in April 2006, Conexus Mobile Alliance is one of Asia’s largest mobile alliances. The alliance is formed to develop and enhance international roaming and corporate mobile services for greater convenience and ease of use for its members’ customers.
