A contractor from a public works project in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong was caught illegally discharging some 200 cubic meters of waste mud in a forest Monday.
This was the second time workers from the Lam Hong Company were caught dumping mud into the Da Nhim Forest, a protected preserve in Lac Duong District.
The first instance was reported last Saturday.
An official from the forest’s management board said the latest discharge affected some 1,500 square meters of forest land.
The mud was allegedly dredged out of the Me Linh Lake in the nearby resort town of Dalat.
