National Hydro Meteorological Forecasting Center has predicted that by early Thursday, weather in the northern region is expected to turn chilly as a strong cold front moves in.
Strong winds are expected in the Gulf of Tonkin, the waters off northern central Vietnam and the northern parts of the East Sea including the Hoang Sa (Paracel) Islands anytime tonight.
The northern region will see scattered showers and thunderstorms. The cold front is then forecast to slam into the central provinces, bringing with it medium to heavy rainfall.
This cold spell is expected to linger about three to four days.
