Nhan Dan - The youth union of Quang Ninh province launched the 2011 Clean Up the World campaign under the theme of ‘Our Place, Our Planet, Our Responsibility’ in Dien Cong commune, Uong Bi town, Quang Ninh province on September 11.
The campaign encourages individuals, especially the youth, and communities to organise practical activities to help protect the environment and cope with climate change.
‘Clean Up the World’ was established in 1993 in Australia and has become an important annual environmental event urging businesses, communities, individuals and nations to join in activities to impove and protect the environment. Such activities include planting trees, restoring natural resources, raising awareness of the environment, educational initiatives, collecting, processing and recycling waste, and contests and exhibitions about the environment.
After the launch, almost 2000 youth union members, students and young people in Uong Bi town planted 10 hectares of mangroves in Dien Cong commune, removed unapproved advertisements and participated in various environmental protection educational activities in Uong Bi town.
