The city targets to have 95 per cent of medium voltage and 50 per cent of low voltage electricity wires on its streets go underground by the end of 2015.

The cost of doing this is expected to be 4-5 times higher compared to having overhead wires, but underground cables are safer and better for the urban landscape.
