A Ho Chi Minh City student is offering discounted and free bus tickets on a new site he modeled on Groupon to raise community awareness of the environment.

Nguyen Ngoc Huy Vu, an environmental studies student at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, launched muaxanh.com (buy green) as a beta version last June, offering deals on environment-friendly products.
It also gives tips on how to save energy and protect nature.
People can also choose a green deal where they get involved in games like classifying garbage, matching scenery pictures, or answer multiple questions on the environment to get bigger discounts.
“Muaxanh.com is still on trial. I am most concerned about finding and tying up with partners to provide green products. My purpose of building this site is to appeal to other [similar] sites to apply this model so that cheap, clean, quality eco-friendly goods can be offered to customers.”
For the project, Vu was named one of 12 global/Vietnamese “nature ambassadors” by German company Bayer in June.
