HCMC – The HCMC government has proposed Kuwait to provide official development assistance (ODA) capital for the development of two hospital projects in a bid to curb overload at existing medical facilities in the city.

The proposal was made by HCMC chairman Le Hoang Quan at a meeting with Kuwait’s General Consul Omar Suleiman Othman Al-Qenaei last Thursday.

The two new hospitals will provide health care services to people in the city as well as other southern provinces.

The city has set aside cleared sites for building these hospitals and it is mobilizing capital sources to commence the projects. It has presented the proposal to the Kuwait side, according to Quan.

Speaking at the meeting, the Kuwaiti diplomat said he supported the idea and would report it to the Kuwaiti government on arranging ODA grants.

Moreover, the diplomat said many Kuwait-based businesses show keen interest in Vietnam. He would call on Kuwait firms to engage in infrastructure development projects in the city.
