Chinese Defence Minister Liang Guanglie arrived in Phnom Penh On May 27 for a four-day official visit to strengthen ties with Cambodia and the ASEAN.
According to a press release from Cambodia 's Defence Ministry, Liang will hold talks with Cambodia ’s Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Tea Banh. They are expected to sign a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the two countries.
Liang will also pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister Hun Sen during his stay. His visit coincides with the 6th ASEAN Defence Ministers Meeting (ADMM), which takes place between May 28 and 30.
Speaking at a press briefing on May 27, Tea Banh said that this is the first time Liang Guanglie has visited Cambodia and his trip is intended to strengthen relations and cooperation between Cambodia and China , particularly between the defence ministries of both countries.
Liang will also meet with the ASEAN Defence Ministers on May 29 to build up closer links between China and ASEAN, he said.-VNA
