(VOV) - On March 23, a Chilean delegation led by President Sebastian Pinera arrived in HCM City as part of its visit to Vietnam from March 22-25.
Vietnam hopes to boost ties with Chile
The Chilean President and his wife attended a banquet to wrap up the Vietnam-Chile business forum hosted by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the Export Promotion Bureau (ProChile).
Among the guests at the forum were Head of the American Market Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade Nguyen Duy Khien, ProChile Director Felix de Vicente, and representatives from the two countries’ business associations.
Last year, two-way trade between Vietnam and Chile hit nearly US$487 million, up more than 50 percent compared to the previous year.
According to statistics from ProChile, bilateral trade in January 2012 already reached roughly US$89 million, up 3.3 times from a year earlier.
During its three-day stay in HCM City from March 23-25, the delegation is scheduled to visit the War Remnants Museum, and attend a reception and a banquet given by municipal leaders
After touring the Cu Chi Tunnels on March 24, the delegation will visit the Mekong River in Kien Giang and Quoi An tourist area in Ben Tre, and will leave HCM City on March 25, concluding its visit to Vietnam.
