The Hanoitimes - Top Vietnamese Chess Grand Master Le Quang Liem and winner of the 2007 Miss Vietnam World pageant Ngo Phuong Lan will represent Vietnam at the 2012 Olympic Torch Relay in Manchester , the UK , next June. Liem was invited, even though no chess events will be held at the Olympics. He and Lan will join the rally along with more than 100 outstanding individuals from around the world. The two young Vietnamese people are very popular for their remarkable achievements and great contributions to the country. The torch relay is one of the traditional events held before the Games officially open. This year, 6,800 torchbearers will carry the Olympic torch for 70 days through more than 1,000 cities, towns and villages in the UK before returning to London and lighting the Olympic flame at the opening ceremony on July 27.
