Ceremony held to rebury martyrs in Tet Offensive

PANO – Khanh Hoa Provincial authorities organised a ceremony on April 4th to rebury 23 martyrs who fell in the 1968 Tet Offensive in Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa.

The martyrs were identified as belonging to units of Battalion 7 of Division 20, Commando K90 and K91, Vinh Trang Town Military Unit and some special forces.

These soldiers died in the assault to occupy some important positions in Nha Trang Town.

After the assault, many bodies of the soldiers were not transferred to the rear and were then captured and buried in mass graves by the enemy on the southern foot of Ru Ri Pass, Vinh Hai District, Nha Trang City.

Earlier, the workers at the Ru Ri road construction site found the remains of the martyrs.

According to many witnesses, about 100 bodies of soldiers and officers who died in the 1968 Tet Offensive were buried in mass graves at Ru Ri Pass.

The Khanh Hoa Military High Command is said to be continuing to gathering information to exhume the rest of the remains.

The martyrs have not yet been identified.
