Nhan Dan - The Central Lung Hospital (CLH) held a ceremony in Hanoi on June 24 to mark its 55th anniversary (1957-2012) and receive the honorable title of Labour Hero from the Party and State for its contributions to the country over the past 55 years.

Since its establishment, the hospital has played a leading role in treating tuberculosis (TB) and lung diseases in Vietnam. Since 2000, it has also trained many medical cadres and district hospital staff, and co-ordinated with the International Union against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease to organise 18 training courses on treating and controlling TB for students from 50 countries in the region and around the world.

The Lam Thao Fertilizer and Chemical Joint Stock Company also celebrated its 50th anniversary (June 24, 1962-2012) and received its second Labour Hero title on the same day.

During its 50 years of operation, the company has focused on improving the quality of its products and expanding its production and markets to meet the demands of farmers across the country.

The company was first awarded the Labour Hero title in 1985. It was also honoured as a ‘Hero of the People’s Armed Forces’ in 1999 and ‘Labour Hero in the Renewal Period’ in 2000.
