PANO – The Ministry of Interior Affairs, in association with the Dak Lak Provincial People’s Committee, held a conference to review seven years of implementing the Decision No 253/QĐ-TTg by the Prime Minister on approval of the Project “Some measures to improve and strengthen local governments in Central Highlands”, known as the Project 253, in the period of 2002-2010, on July 2 nd in Buon Ma Thuot City.
After seven years of implementing the Project 253, provinces in Central Highlands reached many achievements in improving and strengthening local governments and staff training quality, meeting requirements in the new context.
At present, provinces in the Central Highlands have 13,361 officials and civil servants, including 1,975 women, accounting for 17.3%, and 3,584 from ethnic people, accounting for 26.8%.
At the conference, delegates also gave some recommendations to further improve and strengthen local governments in the Central Highland provinces in the period of 2012 – 2020. In the coming time, the provinces will give priority to building policies to raise ability of local cadres for provinces in Central Highlands, especially ethnic cadres.
