On Oct 7, 2011 Cathay Pacific Airways hosted a Gala Dinner to celebrate its 20th anniversary. Cathay Pacific was one of the first foreign airlines to set up a presence in Vietnam five years after the policy of renovation was introduced in 1986. Over the last 2 decades, Cathay has grown from a mere four flights a week in 1992 to a combined twenty four flights per week from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, allowing our passengers to connect to over 150 destinations worldwide.

CATHAY PACIFIC AIRWAYS is a Hong Kong-based airline, operating cargo and passenger services to 140 destinations in 36 countries worldwide, with a fleet of 128 wide-body aircraft. In June 2011, Cathay was voted as Best Airline Transpacific by Skytrax, the UK-based independent airline quality research organisation. According to IATA, Cathay Pacific was the world’s number one in terms of international cargo traffic in 2010. Cathay Pacific is a founder member of the oneworld alliance which currently has 12 member airlines serving almost 900 airports in nearly 150 countries.

Ms. Erica Peng, new Country Manager of Cathay Pacific Vietnam, says: ” We are a Hong Kong based airline and we pride ourselves on our Asian roots. We have an extensive network and a strong team made up of over 50 different countries, many of which are in Asia. One of our strengths, and something that we continue to work on, is providing our passengers convenient access to a global network via the efficient Hong Kong hub and at the same time providing an important link with the rest of the world to this beautiful country. Because of who we are and where we’re from, we share the core values with many Asian cultures and grow up with the spirit of Hong Kong. This is what drives our service. We go the extra mile and ensure that our passengers are well taken care of, that’s the essence of “Service Straight From The Heart.” We will continue to strive towards this service standard and ensure our Vietnamese passengers feel welcome on board. Cathay is proud to be able to contribute to Vietnam’s growth and development and we will continue to do so not just with our passenger and cargo services, but with our commitment to being a socially and environmentally responsible company in countries that we operate in”.

Cathay Pacific’s growth has been sustained by focusing closely on a few key areas. Safety will always be its top priority, in addition to offering quality products, superior service, and an extensive network and seamless connections for both passenger and cargo services. Currently Cathay is investing a lot of time and resources to improve further the experience for its passengers. The Cathay Pacific Group reported a profit of HK$2,808 million for the first six months of 2011 which compares to a profit of HK$6,840 million in the first half of 2010. Capacity increased by 9.8% and the two airlines (Cathay Pacific and Dragonair- its sister airline) carried a total of 13.2 million passengers, a rise of 1.7% on 2010.
