Last Saturday the 17th Cargill Cares charity fund, held by Cargill Vietnam at the Dai Nam Tourist Area, collected over VND3.7 billion thanks to the contribution of 5,000 customers, suppliers, partners and staff members.
Chanh Truong of Cargill Vietnam said: “Our charity program is the clearest evidence of our commitment to constantly improve living standards of local communities where the group has been active.”
Despite the current economic woes, the charity fund this year collected over VND3.7 billion and Cargill Vietnam will also contribute to take the total to VND7.4 billion. With the financial support from Cargill in the U.S., the total amount is expected to be enough to help build seven or eight schools in Vietnam next year.
The fund so far has helped construct over 56 schools nationwide, has given aid to people in flooded areas, handed over scholarships to poor students and provided rehabilitation equipment to local disadvantaged children.
