On November 10, Tran Van Khoe, a 1st grader at Long Dien Dong A Primary School, went to class with several bruises on his face.
Nguyen Ngoc Anh, his head teacher, later found many wounds on his back and legs as well.
Anh said this was the fourth time she had found bruises on Khoe’s body but the bruises looked too serious this time. She then reported the case to the local police.
Master monk Trinh Quoc Dam, 43, who allegedly abused Khoe, was summoned to the police station for questioning on the same day.
Dam told the police that Khoe was naughty so he had to beat him to make him more obedient.
On November 9, Khoe told him that he had stolen somebody’s cell phone. Dam felt angry and beat the boy with a tree branch.
The Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs in Dong Hai District has asked Bac Lieu Province’s Social Sponsor Center to adopt Khoe.
