-- The fifth session of the 11th National Assembly started yesterday to focus on discussing and finding solutions for at least four major and complicated matters of the nation, including the modification of the 1992 Constitution, improvement in management of land, prevention and fighting corruption, and review of policies for salary and other social issues.
-- It is a mistake to build such a large number of hydroelectricity power plants in the central province of Quang Nam, confirmed delegates attending a meeting on “The construction of hydroelectricity power plant – lessons and recommendation” in the locality.
-- The People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City has agreed to upgrade the administrative center of the city. The center will locate on an area of 18,000 square meters enframed by four streets Le Thanh Ton, Pasteur, Ly Tu Trong and dong Khoi.
-- Vietnam will launch its second satellite VINASAT-2 into the orbit on May 16 for telecommunications purposes.
-- Now, only 86 percent of people in Ho Chi Minh City is provided clean water by SAWACO. And it is planned to lift up to 87 percent in 2012.

-- The price of import petrol into Vietnam on May 4 fell US$7.6 a barrel to $123.73 a barrel while the retail price in the Vietnam market has remained unchanged.
-- Vietnam won a gold medal, five silvers and two bronze medals at the 13th Asian Physics Olympics Contest held in India. The gold medal belongs to Le Huy Quang -- the 12th class student of the Lam Son Highschool in the central province Thanh Hoa.
