Society:

-- George Heydlauff, an expat who lives in Vietnam for 5 years, has voluntarily directed traffic at a crowded crossroad of Tran Binh Trong and Tran Nhan Tong in Hanoi without the absence of traffic cops.

-- Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has asked the National Traffic Safety Committee to direct authorities nationwide to hold commemoration ceremonies for people who have died in traffic accidents on November 18, 2011.

-- A Vietnamese-flagged boat with 15 crew members on board has lost control 32 nautical smiles off India since June 26th. Rescue operations are underway.

-- On July 3, police in Dong Nai southern province raided the house of 28-year-old Nguyen Ngoc Dong Anh and caught him and others slaughtering as many as 43 sea turtles.

Business:

-- Mai Linh taxi firm said they will cut fares by VND200 to VND500 per km following the recent hike in gasoline prices (gasoline prices was cut by 600VND per litter on July 2).
