-- State President Truong Tan Sang extended Wednesday his condolences to Russian President D. Medvedev over Russia’s serious oil rig accident which occurred Sunday during a storm near Sakhalin Island in the North Pacific, causing severe loss of life.

-- The Lao National University held Tuesday a meeting in Vientiane to mark the 67th founding anniversary (Dec. 22, 1944-2011) of the Vietnam People’s Army. University deputy director Somsi Nhophansay expressed deep gratitude to Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and military experts who had stood shoulder to shoulder with the Lao army and people in its struggle for national independence.

-- Ha Thi Khiet, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Party Central Committee Mass Mobilization Commission received Wednesday a visiting Chinese Communist Youth League delegation in Hanoi.
