-- The Italian physician Roberto DeCastro, who successfully recreated penis of 5-year-old boy Phung Thien Nhan, whose genitals was badly savaged by a wild animal when he was an abandoned newborn in 2006, arrived in Hanoi on Tuesday to offer free medical examination and treatment to Vietnamese children whose genitals are not intact.
-- European Union (EU) has announced to send a donation of EUR60,000 to Vietnam Red Cross to help the country combat the spreading hand-mouth-foot diseases.
-- Three houses fell into river after a landslide hit the riverbank in Thuong Phuoc 1 Commune, Hong Ngu District in the southern province of Dong Thap early Tuesday morning.
-- Bureau of Road and Railway Traffic Police has ordered a crackdown on traffic violators in response to the country’s Traffic Safety Month falling in September.
-- Police in Ho Chi Minh City’s Binh Thanh District have prosecuted four illegal street racers including Nguyen Thanh Duy, 21, Doan Tuan Minh, 20, Nguyen Kim Hoang, 18, and KHong Minh Nhat, 19 for violating public order.
-- The appeal hearing of the killing of an elephant named Beckham which was killed in an area near the Tuyen Lam Lake Tourism Area in Da Lat Central City last April has been postponed for lack of witness.
-- Vu Van Thanh, a Hanoian, knifed his wife and three children to death and killed himself then on Tuesday. But he still survived and arrested soon after. Police are investigating.
-- 53-year-old Vo Thanh Danh, former director of Ninh Thuan Bank for Investment and Development, has been arrested for violating regulations on lending schemes for credit institutions. Two other employees Vo Thanh Xuan, 45, and Le Quang Vu were also prosecuted for the same crime but they have been released on bail.

-- By August 16, Vietnam exported 4.8 million tons of rice, raising the turnover in the first eight months of this year to US$2.26 billion, Pham Van Bay, deputy chairman of Vietnam Food Association, told the press on Tuesday on the sideline of the 2nd Vietnam Rice Festival held in the Mekong delta province of Soc Trang.
-- The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade announced during a press conference on Tuesday to launch a promotion with a consumer products trade fair held at the Phu Tho Indoor Stadium in District 11 from August 31 - September 4. The five-day trade fair will offer discounts of up to 49 percent.

-- Vietnam National Television (VTV) has won the broadcasting rights to the 2011-12 UEFA Champions and Europa League football tournaments in the country, according to an official VTV source.
Politics:
-- The Grand National Party of South Korea always sought to further enhance its relationship with the Communist Party of Vietnam and promote the all-around cooperation between the two countries, contributing to effectively implementing the two countries’ strategic cooperative partnership, said Secretary General Kim Chung-kwon on Tuesday.
