-- Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, chairwoman of Vietnam’s National Assembly, and her Lao counterpart Pany Yathotou have vowed to bring bilateral relations to new heights as lawmaking bodies of the two countries met in Hanoi on Monday to commemorate the 55 th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
-- Vietnamese State President Tran Dai Quang on Monday received a senior military delegation of Myanmar led by Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, commander-in-chief of the Myanmar Armed Forces, and commended on the two nations’ friendly relationship and Myanmar’s role in the promotion of regional peace and cooperation.

-- Ho Chi Minh City has formally submitted its proposal to be the host city of the 31 st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games), expected to be held in Vietnam in 2021, which is estimated to cost the city over VND5 trillion ($223.21 million) in upgrading its sporting venues.
