The blast wounded three workers, one of whom required emergency care.

The explosion also created a fissure on the new National Highway 1A measuring 10m in length and 4.5m in depth, which resulted in heavy congestion in the Cam Bridge area.

The bomb blast also seriously affected the nearby old National Highway 1A.

People at the site speculated that the bomb might have been deep underground and undetected since wartime.
