Blue-ear pig disease continues to spread

(VOV) - As of July 12, three provinces, Lang Son, Dong Nai and Binh Duong, have not passed the 21-day deadline required to be free from the infectious disease.

Dong Nai confirms blue-ear pig disease

However, the Animal Health Department under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) warned that localities across the country should not be complacent about the disease as it is likely to spread far and wide to the Red River Delta and the southeastern region.

MARD Deputy Minister Diep Kinh Tan said the three affected provinces must deploy measures to fight the epidemic and authorities should temporarily ban transporting pigs out of their localities.

He also emphasized that provinces in the Red River Delta and the southeastern region should vaccinate local pigs against the disease and take immediate measures to prevent it from spreading further.

Grass-roots-level veterinary agencies should inform their administrations of any developments so they can take timely action to protect areas from the disease, Tan added.
