Binh Thuan province has seen dramatic changes since it was liberated 37 years ago.
The Deputy PM made this statement at a ceremony on April 19 to mark the 37th anniversary of the province's liberation (1975 - 2012) and 20th anniversary of re-establishment (1992 - 2012).
Addressing the ceremony, Deputy PM Phuc praised the outstanding achievements Binh Thuan has recorded over the past 20 years. He stressed that Binh Thuan province should tap into its potential and advantages to promote sustainable socio-economic development.
Binh Thuan's economy has grown strongly over the past two decades at an average annual rate of 12.3%, according to Secretary of the Binh Thuan Party Committee Huynh Van Ti.
Binh Thuan province was liberated from the Saigon regime in 1975 and then merged with Binh Tuy and Ninh Thuan provinces to become Thuan Hai province one year later. In 1992, Thuan Hai was split into the present-day Binh Thuan and Ninh Thuan provinces.
