The fourth International Vietnamese Martial Arts Festival will be held in the central province of Binh Dinh from August 1-3.
The festival will see the participation of 20 domestic and 50 foreign martial arts teams, according to a press briefing in Hanoi on July 6.
Martial arts competition and performance will take place in martial arts clubs, squares and sports and cultural centres in and around Binh Dinh.
There will also be artistic performances, including singing and dancing, classical opera and spoken drama shows. In particular, a beauty contest will be designed for female martial artists.
Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman of the Binh Dinh People’s Committee Thanh Van Thang said the event aims to preserve and develop the quintessence of the traditional cultural, especially long-standing martial arts.
It is also a chance for Binh Dinh to promote its image and tourism, thus boosting the local economy, Thang said.
As the cradle of the Tay Son movement, and the homeland of the national hero Quang Trung-Nguyen Hue, it is famous for its long-standing tradition in martial arts.
