VGP - By the end of September, the southern province of Bến Tre has allocated 42,568 ha of land for aquaculture, which produced an estimated ouput of 146,676 tons of aquatic products, up 3.8% year on year, according to the provincial People’s Committee.
Of the area, prawn farms account for some 30,783 ha, up 2.4% while tra fish-raising area is 650 ha, with estimated output of some 98,450 tons, up 3.1%.
The province has 5,650 registered fishing vessels and boats, including over 1,700 offshore fishing vessels. They caught some 85,639 tons of seafood in the first 9 months of this year, up nearly 2%.
