The 91-member team will compete in nine sporting events including sepak takraw, volleyball, handball, woodball, basketball, football, roller-skating, climbing and dragon boat racing.
Vietnam aims to be among the top ten countries in the overall medal tally, hoping to win nine or ten gold medals at the upcoming 2012 Games, said Lam Quang Thanh, deputy chief of the General Department of Sports and Physical Training.
So far, thousands of coaches and athletes from 45 countries and territories across Asia have registered to participate in the 12 events featured at the region's second biggest sports festival.
Vietnam will host the 2016 Asian Beach Games in Nha Trang, following the 2014 Games, which are scheduled to take place in Thailand.
