Nhan Dan – The Asian Muay Thai Championships officially opened yesterday at Rach Mieu Gymnasium in Ho Chi Minh City with the participation of over 400 athletes, referees, and coaches from 15 countries across Asia.
The participants are divided into two age groups; the 15-18 age group will compete in 12 weight classes and the 19-37 group will compete 18 weight categories.
Spectators will witness clashes competition between strong teams such as Thailand, the Republic of Korea (RoK) and Vietnam.
The event offers a good opportunity for the kick-boxers to hone their skills for the 2013 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAGs) in the RoK and the 27th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) 2013 in Myanmar.
The tournament in Ho Chi Minh City will last until July 13.
