Asian Karate champion volunteers to teach in Vietnam

VietNamNet Bridge - 2010 Asian Karate champion, Shinohara Shohei, will arrive in Vietnam on July 25 to begin a two year Karate teaching programme, announced the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The 22 year-old Japanese athlete will be responsible for teaching Karate to more than 100 students in the People’s Police Academy. He also plans to build a textbook on Karate suitable for the school’s students.

According to the JICA, to be allowed to teach in Vietnam, Shinohara has applied to work as a volunteer to the agency. His application has been approved.

Born in Osaka, Shinohara has studied Karate for 16 years and won many prizes in his sport.

So far, the JICA has assigned over 400 volunteers to Vietnam in many fields such as education and training, healthcare, agriculture development and environmental areas. 72 volunteers of the agency are currently working in Vietnam.
