Taiwan beat the CNMI team 5-1 in a tense final game on Saturday to claim this year’s trophy, with CNMI coming in second and the team from the Philippines placing third.
The tournament, which took place in Nha Trang from June 30 to July 7, drew the participation of six teams from Indonesia, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Taiwan and hosts, Vietnam.
The week-long competition, held jointly by the Vietnam Olympic Committee and the Khanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, aimed to promote baseball among youngsters throughout the region.
As the new champions, Taiwan will represent the Asia-Pacific region at the Little League Junior World Series in Michigan, USA this August.
