As many as 66 amateur jockeys from the northern mountainous provinces of Lao Cai and Ha Giang attended the 2012 horse race in Bac Ha town on June 10.
Fierce competition in the final round which involved 32 horsemen from Mong, Dao and Tay ethnic minority groups drew enthusiastic applause from local people and foreign tourists.
Vang Van Huynh from Lao Cai, who successfully defended his 2011 champion title, got a cash prize of VND20 million.
