Ambassadors asked to raise Vietnam profile abroad

(VOV) - Ambassadors and chief representatives overseas should accelerate external activities in all three pillars of politics, economics and culture, and serve as a bridge for international friends to gain a better understanding of Vietnam.

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong presented this expectation at a meeting in Hanoi on April 18 with newly appointed ambassadors and chief representatives who will assume their duties overseas.

The whole Party, State and people are making joint efforts to implement the 11 th Party Congress’s resolution, so each ambassador should actively contribute to the process, said Mr Trong.

He added that the diplomatic sector and representative offices overseas should focus on external affairs for economic, cultural, educational and training development, contributing to preventing acts of sabotage by hostile forces.

He urged ambassadors and chief representatives to grasp the Party and State’s policies and viewpoints and promote Vietnam’s image to international friends. They should learn about role models from friendly countries to expand them at home and pay attention to overseas Vietnamese communities.

Ambassadors and chief representatives vowed to do at their utmost to fulfil their tasks, contributing to fostering friendship and cooperative ties between Vietnam and other countries and international organisations.
